Today we visited the Colombo International Book Fair at the BMICH and after spending 2 long hours in the heat with huge crowds, we decided to head to Cheers for a drink and some lunch.  Cheers is on the first floor of the Cinnamon Grand hotel and it is an ideal place for a lazy lunch or catching up for drink with friends.  It has a cosy interior with large screens showing sports and an open section, just outside the pub, for children including a small play area and a television.

As a starter we had nachos (Rs. 495) with gooey cheese and the right amount of onion, chilli and tomato.  It was topped with a sweet tomato sauce and served with guacamole and sour cream - yum!

I am a bit of a creature of habit and whenever I find a meal I love, I usually stick to it and the roast chicken with vegetables (Rs. 660) never disappoints!  They always provide a generous serving of chicken, cooked perfectly, moist inside with crispy skin.  The vegetables are nicely boiled, the gravy is lovely and the little balls of stuffing are amazing!

My husband thoroughly enjoyed his beef burger with fried egg and chips. (Rs.660 + Rs. 85 for the egg). The patty was thick and juicy and the egg was perfectly runny. His (very) minor gripes was that there was no sauce on the burger (though ketchup is provided on the table) and that the egg cost extra.

Overall our bill was Rs. 5000 (including taxes) for a starter, two mains, two beers and a glass of wine.  We have visited on several occasions and the service is always very friendly and efficient and the cosy, pub atmosphere is great for extended catch ups with friends.
